Pastor Johnson believes the call to ministry is the highest calling in the universe. The call to do God’s work is filled with joy. Pastor Johnson experienced this call as a pre-teen and so far, it has been wonderful, though he admits this journey with God is not always an easy task. Pastor Johnson states, “Sometimes the way is filled with disappointments and discouragement. However, at the end of the day, being able to lead people to develop a relationship with God and fulfill their God-given purpose is invaluable. I wouldn’t trade ministry for anything.” He currently pastors Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Pastor Johnson is a graduate of Robert Morris University, earning an Associate’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Management. Pastor Johnson is also a graduate of McCormick Theological Seminary of the Associated Theological Schools (ACTS), earning a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in preaching. Recently, North Central Theological Seminary conferred upon Pastor Johnson a Doctor of Theology degree. Pastor Johnson is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Ministry degree with an emphasis in pastoral leadership at the Andersonville Theological Seminary. Pastor Johnson believes academic preparation will assist him to expand and fulfill his spiritual call and vision. Pastor Johnson states, "I am determined to do ministry that is effective in the 21st century."​God has given Pastor Johnson a great vision for ministry, and he has been blessed with experiences that help shape and mold that vision. As a result of Pastor Johnson’s leadership and unwavering commitment to adding value to others, over 1800 have accepted Jesus Christ into their life in thirteen years.

Pastor Johnson has established himself as one of the most dynamic forces in the Christian community. Pastor Johnson is a member of the National Baptist Convention USA, INC., Baptist General State Convention of Illinois, Southern Baptist Convention, Illinois Baptist State Association, North Central Baptist Association Board Member and Rockford Vicinity Baptist District Association. Pastor Johnson served on the Resolution and Christian Life Committee for the Illinois Baptist State Association, was Director of Evangelism for the Baptist General State Convention of Illinois, and was the first African American to serve as Moderator of the North Central Baptist Association. Pastor Johnson made history in Rockford, IL, by becoming elected as the youngest President of the Rockford Ministers Fellowship at the age of 35 and the youngest Vice President of the African American Fellowship in Chicago, IL, at the age of 27, and 1st Vice Moderator of Progressive Baptist District in Rockford, IL and Director of Evangelism of Emmanuel Baptist District in Chicago, IL.
As a community leader, Pastor Johnson has served on boards such as the Community Banking Board of Fifth Third Banking and the Community Viewpoints Board of the Rockford Register Star. Pastor Johnson served the Rockford, IL Police & Fire Department as a chaplain, Community Input Committee Rockford School District 205, board member of the Literacy Council, Precinct Captain Winnebago, IL and was the first African American to serve as Chairman of Rockford Mass Transit District and first African American Chair of any public board in Rockford, IL. Pastor Johnson’s priority is expansion through evangelism. His preaching and teaching focuses on empowering believers spiritually, developing them educationally, exposing them culturally, activating them politically, and strengthening them economically.
